Quesnel, British Columbia – Residents of the Naszko area will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding to upgrade forest service roads, announced recently by the province and federal government with an investment of over $1 million.

These projects are another example of both governments’ commitment to stimulate the British Columbia economy through the creation of jobs in our communities. This will improve transportation efficiency and create local jobs through forest service road upgrades.

Dick Harris, MP for Cariboo-Prince George said, “As mentioned in the Throne Speech yesterday, we are entering the second phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. Our government’s priority will be to continue its rapid implementation of projects, so that we can continue to build a strong economy for the future.”

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Government is getting shovels in the ground and flowing money faster to stimulate the economy and create jobs for British Columbians,” said Harris.

Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell said, “Our forest service roads are used extensively by industry and recreationists alike and this funding will help maintain our critical network of forest service roads around the province. The Province’s $594,000 commitment, combined with $514,000 in federal funding, will be dedicated to upgrades

to the Snaking River, Michelle Baezaeko, and Michelle Coglistiko Forest Service Roads in the Nazko area.”
 
This project is one of 15, announced on March 1, 2010 by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Premier Gordon Campbell, across the province that will break ground thanks to close to $35.4 million in joint federal and provincial funding.
