Prince George, B.C.--A number of rail crossings in the Prince George region will be upgraded thanks to some federal funding. Member of Parliament for Cariboo-Prince George, Dick Harris, says forty thousand dollars in Federal funding has been allocated to replace and repair six high priority crossings. He says “these crossings would be intermittent throughout the subdivision, which is about 70-80 miles long. What happens is, there’s inspections done on an annual basis, and where crossings look like they’re in need of repair to ensure they’re up to safety standards, they’re earmarked for repair.” Harris says the crossings receiving the upgrade are in the Nechako subdivision which runs from PG to Endako. The funding is coming from the Grade Crossing Improvement Program.
